A five-phase method for B2B businesses that mean business.
The Potent methodology is a five-phase B2B marketing process: Diagnose what's broken, Position the business, Build the brand and digital experience, Generate demand, and Optimise against pipeline. End-to-end, a typical engagement runs 4–6 months to first measurable impact.

How we work
01 — Diagnose
Diagnose what's actually broken
A series of structured discovery sessions: stakeholder interviews, customer interviews, competitor mapping, analytics audit. Most engagements are misframed at the start. We refuse to start work on a misframed problem.
- · Diagnostic report
- · Prioritised problems
- · Recommended scope
02 — Position
Land the positioning
We pressure-test 3–5 positioning routes against your business, your customers and your competitive set. We land on one, and write the messaging hierarchy that flows from it.
- · Positioning statement
- · Messaging hierarchy
- · Proof point library
03 — Build
Build the brand and digital experience
Identity, website, sales collateral and the assets your team needs to take the new positioning to market. Built from the strategy outwards, never decoratively.
- · Visual identity
- · Website
- · Sales collateral
- · Brand guidelines
04 — Generate
Generate demand
Founder-led content, paid media, ABM and email — coordinated to fill the top of the pipeline against the new positioning.
- · Content engine
- · Paid programme
- · ABM motion
- · Lifecycle email
05 — Optimise
Measure, learn and compound
Monthly pipeline reviews, quarterly strategy reviews, annual reposition checks. The work compounds when it's measured against the right things.
- · Monthly reporting
- · Quarterly reviews
- · Annual strategy refresh
Frequently asked questions
How is your methodology different from other agencies?
Most agencies start with creative or media. We start with diagnosis and positioning. Half the engagements that come to us as 'we need a new website' end up as 'we need to fix our positioning first'. We refuse to skip that step.
Can we engage you for just one phase?
Yes — most engagements are scoped around a phase or two. The full methodology is the ideal, not a requirement. Many clients engage us for diagnosis and positioning, then take execution in-house or to specialist partners.
What if we already have positioning sorted?
Then we start at Build or Generate. We're not religious about running the full sequence — we're religious about making sure the foundation is sound before we layer on top.
Ready to talk?
No hard sell. Just a conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and whether we're the right fit.
